the hill & hill history
Spring 1971
Successor of the firm founded by the late Jerry G. Hill. Jerry G. Hill notably represented Frank W. Sharp for his alleged involvement in the Sharpstown state bank scandal. This was in the early 70's in Texas leading to what we know now as transparency in government and changed the chairs of elected officials like the state had never seen. This case involved the highest levels of the state government.
May 1980
J. Marcus Hill had the privilege of running title in South Texas behind leases his dad took in the 60’s. After graduating from Texas A&M and finishing his service in the Air Force in May of the 80’s Mr. Hill got licensed before graduating from South Texas College of Law while working for local and international companies.
November 1984
Mr. Hill started his career with Hill & Ghiselli which we today know as Hill & Hill. Later in the 80’s Mr. Hill was Senior Assistant County Attorney for Harris County.
May 1984
Maroon-blooded J. Marcus Hill married Jeffrey W Hill, a Longhorn honors graduate. They just celebrated their 39th anniversary, passing along their legacy to their two children Libby and Ross. Ross J. Hill takes after his father. He was lead counsel at an impressively young age at the Galveston County District Attorney's office. He is now an associate attorney at an international firm. Libby B. Hill was the 2019 Miss Earth USA and the Co-founder of Nutrition Ally, Nutrition Counseling specializing in eating disorders, digestive issues, and attention deficit disorder.
2009
Mr. Hill became 1st Assistant County Attorney for Harris County where he set up an office transition team for County Attorney Vince Ryan. By 2010 he was back into private practice after achieving many notches on his belt such as being an AV rated lawyer since 1990. AV preeminent is the highest level of peer rating.
2016
At an age when most people were retiring, J. Marcus Hill decided things were just getting started. He opened a second office in Galveston Texas in 2016. He feels as though his career is far from ending. Retirement is only a word Mr. Hill uses for his U.S. Air Force career. He will continue to help his clients receive justice statewide.
